Congratulations to Khushbu Patel who successfully defended her thesis "Patient and care partner experiences with Alzheimer’s disease cerebrospinal fluid biomarker testing" earning her a Master of Science in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from the University of British Columbia.
Khushbu's thesis evaluated the factors considered by individuals in the decision to undergo Alzheimer’s biomarker testing, their feelings after receiving the test results, impact on wellness and lifestyle activities and future care planning, and effects on their family and friends. These findings have the potential to help doctors council and disclose biomarker results to patients and their families in a manner valuable from a personal perspective and enable them to utilize the information to their benefit.
